Lord Kartikeya is worshiped here under the name of Murugan Swami. According to the locals, the statue of Murugan Swami is installed in the Arulmigu Dandayudhapani temple, it is built by a sage named Bogar. Rishi Bogar was a great scholar of Ayurveda. It was he who made this statue by mixing 9 toxic substances in a certain proportion. There is also a tomb of Rishi Bogar in the temple premises itself.

What is the history of Arulmigu Dandayudhapani Temple?
Tamil literature reveals the history of this temple. It is said that this temple was built in the 5th-6T centenary by King Cherman Perumal of Cher dynasty. After this, the kings of the Pandya dynasty also gave a huge form to this temple. To reach the temple, 689 stairs have to be climbed. No one is allowed to go to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, so no one can touch this statue. The offerings of this temple are also very special, which is called Panchtirtham Prasadam. This offerings are made with banana, ghee, cardamom, jaggery and honey. This Prasad has got the GI tag.

– Palni railway station is located on the Coimbatore-Rameswaram railway line. Trains run from Madurai, Coimbatore and Palakkad here.
