The history of this temple is very ancient

The history of the Pataleshwar temple is very old, but the campus that is currently built here is said to be 150 years old. Local people say that no one knows who established the Shivling located here. Some people also call it out of the ground. Only one Shivling is installed in this temple. There is no idol of any other deity here. Although thousands of people come here every day and but there is a fair -like atmosphere here in Sawan.

Why do devotees offer sweep here?

In the Pataleshwar temple, people offer milk, water, fruit-flower, bell-leaf, cannabis, dhatura as well as cake broom. It is believed that if someone has a skin disease and he sweeps God here, he gets freedom from this disease. People also sweep God here to diagnose other problems. People whose wishes are fulfilled, they definitely come here to visit here.

How did the tradition of sweeping?

Local people believe that at some time a rich businessman lived here. Once he got skin disease i.e. skin disease. When he was going to Vaidya for treatment, he felt thirsty. He stopped drinking water at a saint’s ashram nearby. On the way, his foot collided with a broom kept in the ashram, which immediately cured his disease. Seeing this, the businessman expressed his desire to give money to the saint. The saint asked the businessman to build a temple at this place. The businessman did the same. This temple is today known as Pataleshwar Mahadev.
