Unchanged India to bowl vs West Indies in must-win T20 World Cup clash

New Delhi: India have opted to bowl after winning the toss in their do-or-die Super 8s clash against West Indies in the T20 World Cup in Kolkata on Sunday.

Defending champions India named an unchanged playing XI for the match, the winner of which will qualify for the semi-finals.

“We will bowl first tonight. Looks good. It has been a chasing ground, wicket gets even better so chasing is a good option. It’s already wild and we will look to give a good show to the crowd. I think we ticked all the boxes last game. Same team,” Suryakumar Yadav

Former champions West Indies made a change to their team, adding an extra spinner Akeal Hosein in place of Brendan King, with Roston Chase promoted to open the innings.

“We would have done the same (bowling). Playing consistent cricket is key for us. Most of the guys have been part of the IPL and hopefully we can come out on top today,” Windies captain Shai Hope said.

“It’s a do or die game today. This is what we play for – to play against big teams, best teams. One change, Akeal Hosein comes in for Brandon King.”

Historically, Eden Gardens has been a difficult ground to defend and even West Indies would have fielded had they won the toss.

India have batted first in four of the five matches they have played in the tournament so far.
