New Delhi: India have picked uncapped Anushka Sharma for the five-match away T20I series against South Africa beginning on April 17. The Madhya Pradesh batting all-rounder earned a maiden call-up after impressing in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026.
Gujarat Giants signed Sharma for Rs 45 lakh ahead of the WPL 2026, and the 22-year-old youngster repaid the faith by making an immediate impact. In high demand at the auction, Anushka emerged as the most expensive uncapped player at the auction. She lived up to the price tag and scored 177 in seven innings in WPL 2026.

Anushka was also part of the India A squad at the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Bangkok last month.
While Anushka was rewarded for her heroics in WPL, Sneha Rana, Amanjot Kaur, G Kamalini, and Vaishnavi Sharma didn’t find a place in the line-up following an underwhelming outing in Australia recently, where India won the series 2-1.
Kashvee Gautam, one of the very few bright spots from the dismal Australia tour, has been included in the T20 squad led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Gautam impressed with both bat and ball in the Test and ODI leg of the Australia tour.
