Unaccustomed Earth: Siddharth Boards Freida Pinto Starrer Adapted From Jhumpa Lahiri’s Short Stories

Bommarillu actor Siddharth will star opposite Freida Pinto in Unaccustomed Earth. The upcoming Netflix series is based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s collection of short stories of the same name that was published in 2008. The South star is set to play Amit Mukherjee, a former love of a devoted wife, Parul Chaudhury, played by Pinto.

Siddharth joins Netflix series Unaccustomed Earth opposite Freida Pinto

Netflix announced that actor Siddharth was coming on board the show Unaccustomed Earth with Freida Pinto. The two stars would headline the eight-episode series. 3 Body Problem’s Madhuri Shekar is the showrunner and writer of the new series based on Lahiri’s short stories.

Shekar is also an executive producer with The Pitt’s John Wells, Ritesh Batra, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas. The Lunchbox director Batra will helm the first two episodes of the series. The drama series, produced by Warner Bros. Television, is focusing on the tight-knit Indian American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Siddharth’s character in Unaccustomed Earth

The South star’s character Amit Mukherjee reconnects with Pinto’s character in the show. According to the press note, “Amit is a warm-hearted Bengali American man, born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who wears his emotions openly and gives of himself freely, sometimes to his own detriment. The friend all his own friends turns to in a crisis, Amit is dependable in moments of need but struggles to find stability in work or love. Just as his latest relationship begins to feel promising, his carefully balanced world unravels with the unexpected return of his long-lost love.”

Earlier this year, Siddharth was seen in the Netflix sports drama Test alongside Nayanthara and R Madhavan. He has previously appeared in the web series Leila, Navarasa, and Escaype Live. The actor will star opposite Kamal Haasan in Indian 3, which is expected to release later in 2025 or early 2026.
