The Union Cabinet had an important meeting today. In this, five major decisions were taken by the government. The government has approved the proposal for an additional budget of 12060 crores for the Ujjwala scheme. This decision of the government will benefit 10 crore 33 lakh people. Apart from this, the government has set an additional budget of 30 thousand crores for affordable LPG cylinders. The central government has given great relief to the general public as well as technical education institutions on Raksha Bandhan.

In the rest of the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting of the Modi government, the budget has been approved for technical education, development of Assam and Tripura, Markkanam – Puducherry 4 lane highway. The government has approved a budget of 4200 crore for technical education institutions. At the same time, 4250 crore has been approved as Special Development Fund for the development of Assam and Tripura. The government has also approved an amount of 2157 crore for the Markkanam -Puducherry Four Lane highway.

30000 crores to make up for loss

The cabinet approved LPG subsidy of Rs 30000 crore to the government oil companies-Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) in the last 15 months to compensate for the losses from selling LPG at a cost less than the cost. According to an official statement, this compensation will be given to oil marketing companies (OMC) in 12 installments.

Oil companies loss due to international prices fluctuations

During 2024-25, LPG international prices were at high level and will remain high even further. However, to protect consumers from international LPG prices fluctuations, the cost of increase in cost was not put on domestic LPG consumers, causing heavy losses to all three oil marketing companies. Despite the deficit, public sector oil marketing companies have ensured a continuous supply of domestic LPG at affordable prices in the country.

4200 crores for improvement in 275 technical institutes

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet approved the proposal for implementation of multi -disciplinary education in 275 technical institutes and the implementation of Research Reforms (Meritte) Scheme in Technical Education. These institutions include 175 engineering institutes and 100 polytechnics. It is a central region’s plan to have a total financial burden of Rs 4,200 crore for a period of 2025-26 to 2029-30. Out of Rs 4200 crore, Rs 2,100 crore will be given as external assistance in the form of loan from the World Bank.
