In today’s digital India, the Aadhaar card has become the backbone of digital identity of every citizen, not just one ID Proof. Whether it is to take advantage of government schemes, opening a bank account or a child admission in school – Aadhaar is mandatory everywhere.
In such a situation, if any information like name, address or date of birth in your base is wrong or has become very old, then it becomes very important to update it.
Now the good news is that UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has once again extended the free facility to update Aadhaar – and this time there is a chance till 14 June 2026…
Why is it necessary to update Aadhaar? If your Aadhaar card is more than 10 years old and you have not made any change in it, then it is time to check it again and update it. From time to time, it is advisable by UIDAI that citizens should update their documents so that no government service is obstructed.
How long can Aadhaar update for free?
From UIDAI, the facility to update online updates online for free of demographic details like name, address, date of birth, gender etc. has been increased till 14 June 2026.
Take care – This feature is available only on the online portal (Myadhaar). If you want to go to Aadhaar Seva Kendra and update, then you have to pay a fee.
How to update free Aadhaar while sitting at home? It is very easy to update the identification and address information in Aadhaar online: visit the official website of UIDAI: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
Login: Enter your Aadhaar number and fill the OTP on the registered mobile number.
Choose Document Update section: Here you will see your Aadhaar details. If there is any improvement in the information, move forward.
Upload the document: Scan and upload documents related to ID Proof and Address Proof. Example: For identification – PAN card, voter ID, for passport address – electricity bill, bank statement, passbook, ration card etc.
Submit and URN Note: On submitting the application, you will get an update request number (URN) of 14 marks. With this you can track the status of your update.

When is the update required for children? According to UIDAI rules, Aadhaar updates for children: -It is mandatory to get biometric updates in these two stages at the age of -5 years.
