Aadhaar Update: If your Aadhar card is lost somewhere or you do not remember your Aadhar number, then there is no need to worry at all. UIDAI has made the process of retrieving Aadhaar Number (UID) or Enrollment ID (EID) quite easy. If you want, you can get your Aadhaar back through any method, online or offline.
How to get back aadhaar online
If your mobile number is linked to Aadhaar, then you can easily get back your Aadhaar number or EID from the Retrieve UID/EID option available on the UIDAI website. You just have to fill your name, registered mobile number or email and captcha. After this OTP comes on your phone or email. As soon as the OTP is entered correctly, your Aadhaar number or EID is sent through SMS. This process is free and is completed in a few minutes.
How to get offline Aadhaar
If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, you will have to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre. Here information like name, gender, district or pin code is taken from you. After this, biometric verification is done through fingerprint or iris scan. If the verification is correct, the operator prints your e-Aadhaar and gives it to you. A fee of Rs 30 is charged for this.
UIDAI helpline option
You can also get your EID by calling 1947. If your information matches, you are given an EID. Then by calling again, your Aadhaar number is also obtained through IVRS by telling EID, date of birth and PIN code. This service is completely free.
If Aadhaar letter is lost
In such a situation, go to the Aadhaar center and provide your Aadhaar number or 28-digit EID. After biometric verification, the operator prints your e-Aadhaar. For this one has to pay Rs 30. These online and offline easy methods from UIDAI ensure that you can get your Aadhaar number back without any hassle.
