Indian team did not take the medal from Naqvi’s hands

Now this trend continued in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 also and this time despite losing the title, the Indian players ignored Naqvi and took their medals from another official.
Neither shared the stage, nor took medal

Team India had to face defeat in the final, hence there was no question of controversy regarding giving the trophy, which happened in the Senior Asia Cup. But all the players of Team India were to be given runner-up medals. But the Indian team refused to accept the medal by going to the stage where Naqvi was standing with the trophy. The Indian players went next to the stage and collected their medals, which were given to them by an ICC official. Overall, the Indian team maintained its stance of not sharing the stage with Naqvi and made no changes in it.
Why did Team India not take the trophy?
Let us remind you that the Indian team had won the title in Asia Cup 2025 but when it came to take the trophy, Team India refused to take it from the hands of Naqvi. In fact, Naqvi is not only the president of ACC and PCB but is also an important minister of the Government of Pakistan. He had made provocative statements during the military confrontation between India and Pakistan and then also during the Asia Cup. In protest against this, Team India did not take the trophy from Naqvi. But Naqvi also showed shamelessness and insisted on giving the trophy with his own hands and then picked up the trophy and took it to his hotel. Since then the Indian team has not received this trophy.
