Two Army soldiers were injured in a powerful mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Moments after the blast, the Army immediately launched a relief operation.
The government officials stated that the accident occurred near the Upper Garh forward post in the Kamalkot sub-sector of Uri. This is a highly sensitive area, and a detachment of the 8th Rashtriya Rifles (8 RR) is deployed here under the 12th Infantry Brigade. The entire area falls under the jurisdiction of the Uri police station.
The soldiers were on routine patrol when an explosion suddenly occurred in an old mine. The explosion was so loud that it was heard throughout the surrounding area, leaving two soldiers seriously injured.
Injured Jawans Airlifted To Srinagar Hospital
Immediately after the incident, fellow soldiers rescued the injured soldiers safely from the scene. After providing first aid on the spot, they were immediately airlifted by helicopter to the Army Base Hospital in Badamibagh, Srinagar. Both are currently undergoing treatment at the base hospital, and their condition is being closely monitored by senior Army doctors.
The injured soldiers have been identified as Dafadar Vijay Kumar (42-year-old) and Naik Sharanappa Angari (28-year-old). Both are brave soldiers of the 8th Rashtriya Rifles and have served the nation for a long time.
