There are now reports that two big Union ministers spoke to Dhankhar shortly after accepting the notice of the opposition who brought impeachment against Justice Yashwant Verma in the Rajya Sabha.
According to the Hindustan Times report, experts in the case say that one of the two Union ministers had also indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not happy with this decision. To this, Dhankhar had replied that he is working in the rules.
According to the report, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to Dhankar on Monday. The conversation took place after speaking in the Rajya Sabha on behalf of Dhankhar on an impeachment notice brought against the High Court judge. The notice was signed by 63 MPs.
A person expert in the case says, ‘Rijiju told Dhankhar that there is a process of consent on impeachment in the Lok Sabha. He said that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has signed the notice. He also indicated that PM is not happy with this sudden development. Whereas, Dhankhar replied that he is working only by staying in the rules of the House.
It is reported that the Rajya Sabha took place on Monday after the first meeting of the BAC i.e. Business Advisory Committee. Where the leaders decided not to go to the second BAC meeting held at 4.30 pm.
Another HT report reported that the government was surprised by the initial decision of impeachment against Justice Verma in Rajya Sabha. It is reported that the government wanted to do this process through the Lok Sabha.
