Singer Tulsi Kumar has released her latest track, ‘Raanjha Ve’, a chill Afro-pop song that blends contemporary Afro-inspired grooves with an Indian melodic touch while exploring separation, longing and the complicated process of letting go.
Composed by Abhijeet Srivastava and written by Shayra Apoorva, the song has been directed visually by Ranju Varghese. The music video follows Tulsi as she prepares for a concert, capturing her anticipation of taking the stage alongside the lingering ache of a personal heartbreak.
Talking about the track, Tulsi said she had been in a more reflective phase over the past few months and had been taking time to observe and connect with the experiences inspiring her creatively.
“The journey of ‘Raanjha Ve’ began back in January, with conversations around the sound, genre, and lyrical direction we wanted to take. I was closely involved in shaping the sound of the song,” she said.
Tulsi added that Shayra and Abhijeet had become collaborators who understood her creative vision and persistence, helping bring the song to life.
“With ‘Raanjha Ve’, I wanted to explore the feeling that exists between the urge to hold on and the simultaneous desire to let go,” she said, adding that she did not want the track to remain confined to heartbreak but instead wanted it to convey “a sense of strength and movement”.
Describing the musical treatment, Tulsi said the song has been given an effortless, groovy quality that allows listeners to connect with its emotions while enjoying its sound.
She also credited Ranju Varghese and Kadambari for understanding the creative world of the track and translating its emotions into the music video.
“Some feelings find their way into songs, and ‘Raanjha Ve’ is one of them. I’m really happy to finally share it with everyone,” she said.
