The US has reduced the H-1B visa fee to $ 1,00,000.
The decision of US President Donald Trump to increase the H-1B visa fee to US $ 100,000 per employee is likely to be damaged by India. The Economic think tank Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) said on Sunday that Indian IT companies are already employing 50-80 percent of local employees in the US, which are about 1,00,000 US citizens in total.
GTRI said, ‘Therefore this step will not create more new employment. Instead, it will make it more expensive than the local people to appoint on-site Indians. The think tank further said that an IT manager with five years of experience in the US gets salary from 1,20,000 to 1,50,000 dollars, while those who come on H-1B visa get 40 percent less than this and the person working in India gets 80 percent less salary.
Companies will take these steps
Ajay Srivastava of GTRI said, ‘Facing this heavy duty, companies will speed up offshoreing, that is, remote work will increase from India itself. This means low H-1B application, low recruitment at the local level, the increase in project costs for American customers and the speed of innovation will decrease.
India should make a new scheme
Srivastava further said that India should plan to take advantage of this fee hike and use the returning talent to build domestic capacity in software, cloud and cyber security, making this conservationist move of America a long -term boost for India’s digital ‘Swaraj Mission’. He said, “President Trump’s decision to increase the H-1B visa fee on September 19 can harm America more than India.”
1 million dollars fees
President Donald Trump on Friday signed an announcement on Friday to increase the fee on the visa used by the companies to appoint employees from other countries including India. A White House official on Saturday clarified that the H-1B visa fee would apply only to new applicants.
