India-China-Russia together
This time a special political atmosphere will be seen at the annual conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) starting on 31 August in Tianjin city of China. In this conference, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Russia President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be present on the same platform. This is not just a general meeting, but a glimpse of the changing equations of the world’s forces. India, China and Russia together want to give a clear message to America that now only America’s arbitrariness will not work in the world. Experts say that India can also plan to reduce the arrival of America in this conference, in which it will get full support from China and Russia.
Actually, America has imposed the most tariffs on India. From 27 August i.e. tomorrow, goods going from India to America will be taxed at 50%. Trump had earlier imposed 25% tariff, but later 25% tariff was imposed due to buying oil from Russia. Not much tariff has been imposed on China, which is currently buying more oil than India from Russia. In such a situation, India wants the rest of the countries to create a strength in front of which Trump should think many times before imposing his arbitrariness.
Modi will go to China after seven years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to China after nearly seven years. After the violent clash in the Galwan Valley in 2020, relations between India and China were tense. But now there has been some softness on the issues of border dispute. The meeting between the two countries is expected to take steps such as a phased return of soldiers on the border, some relaxation in trade-visa rules, cooperation on climate change and increasing contact between common people. These steps can be laid the foundation of a new beginning in India-China relations.
SCO is becoming a big stage
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization began in 2001 with six countries, which has now reached 10 permanent members and 16 correspondents and supervisors countries. Earlier its main focus was on security and terrorism, but now it has spread to many areas like economic and military cooperation. However, experts believe that the real function of SCO is not as strong and it shows more. Nevertheless, China is using this platform to make its global strategy against America.
Big opportunity for Russia too
This SCO conference can prove to be a major diplomatic success for President Putin amidst stringent sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries. This will be a rare and long tour outside Russia, in which they will also participate in a military parade in memory of World War II. In this conference, there is also a possibility of all three -sided talks between India, China and Russia, which is an indication that these countries are taking steps towards making their shared strategy apart from the influence of the West.
America will get a clear message
The trade pressure and policy stress on India at the time of Donald Trump has forced New Delhi to think of relations with China again. Experts believe that India wants to leave behind the SCO disputes and continue talks with China, so that the voice of global South i.e. developing countries can be further strengthened. However, differences between member countries in SCO are also no less. Due to the tension of India and Pakistan, no common statement was found in the meeting of Defense Ministers in June. At the same time, India refused to be a part of the SCO’s statement, in which the Israeli attacks on Iran were condemned. Nevertheless, this time the conference will give a big political message that the countries of Global South are now going to move forward on their terms, not on the terms of the West.
