New Delhi: Actor Trisha Krishnan has responded strongly after filmmaker and actor R Parthibhan made controversial remarks about her recent public appearance with longtime co-star Vijay. The exchange has triggered widespread discussion online, particularly because it comes amid the ongoing divorce proceedings between Vijay and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam.
The controversy erupted after Trisha and Vijay were seen attending a wedding reception together in Chennai. Their appearance drew intense attention on social media as it happened just days after Sangeetha filed a divorce petition in the Chengalpattu District Court, citing infidelity, mental cruelty and desertion as grounds for the separation.
Trisha’s sharp response on social media
On Sunday evening (March 8), Trisha took to X (formerly Twitter) and issued a pointed statement without directly naming Parthibhan. However, many believe her remarks were aimed at the filmmaker following his comments at a recent awards event.
She wrote, “I was informed by the organisers of a recent event that my name and picture were included at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant.”
The actor then addressed the criticism more directly. She added, “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at.”
Her post quickly gained traction online, with fans and industry followers sharing the statement widely.
What did R Parthibhan say about Trisha?
The controversy began when Parthibhan was asked about his former co-stars during an awards show. When Trisha’s photograph appeared on screen, the filmmaker responded in Tamil, referring to her by the character name Kundavai from Ponniyin Selvan.
He reportedly said, “Indha Kundavaiye konjaneram kunthavaikkirathu nallath (It is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while). It is better if she doesn’t step out because it is creating a lot of issues.”
The comments followed Trisha and Vijay’s joint appearance at the wedding reception of producer Kalpathi S Suresh’s son in Chennai. The two actors walked in together and later posed with the newly married couple on stage, which quickly became a talking point among fans.
Their public outing gained additional attention because of the legal dispute involving Vijay and Sangeetha. In her petition, Sangeetha alleged that Vijay had maintained an “adulterous relationship” with a female actor since 2021 and described the situation as causing emotional distress and public embarrassment for their family.
The couple, who married in 1998 in the United Kingdom and held another ceremony in India in 1999, share two children, Jason Sanjay and Dhivya Sasha.
