The latest at the Le Mans race has once again put their friendship under the social media spotlight. Now, veteran actor Ambika has joined the conversation, sharing her thoughts on how close friends should handle public attention when their actions can invite speculation.
Trisha Krishnan and Vijay at Silverstone
Trisha was at Silverstone in England on September 12 for the Le Mans race, where actor Ajith Kumar competed with his team. Vijay was also present at the event, and videos of Vijay and Trisha together quickly began circulating online.
One video showed the two watching the race from the stands. At one point, Trisha leaned forward to get a closer view of the action on the track. Vijay was seen in jeans, a black T-shirt and a brown jacket.
The clips soon became a talking point on social media, with attention turning once again to the friendship between the two actors.
Ambika weighs in on the discussion
Amid the buzz, Ambika spoke about Vijay and Trisha’s friendship during an interview with RedPix. She said that, in her own situation, she would be careful about doing anything that could lead to criticism involving a close friend who holds an influential position.
Ambika also referred to an earlier interview in which she had spoken about Trisha Krishnan.
“Recently, I gave an interview in which I spoke about Trisha. In response, someone came out in support of Trisha and asked, ‘Was she the Trisha of the 1980s?’” she said.
She then questioned the comparison, adding, “If I were the Trisha of the 1980s, then who was the Vijay of the 1980s? I want to know. The person should tell me that.”
‘We should also be a little careful’
Ambika also addressed the discussion around matching outfits, travelling to London and other public appearances involving the two.
“People have asked whether you are talking about dressing alike and wearing matching outfits or about travelling to London,” she said.
According to Ambika, she would avoid anything that she knew could bring criticism or negatively affect a friend’s public image.
She further said that repeated speculation could also leave people frustrated.
“Otherwise, people also begin to feel disappointed. They may say, ‘Fine, you say that you are just friends. But do we have to keep fighting and defending you every single time?’” Ambika said.
She added, “So, if we value that friendship, we should also be a little careful about how we conduct ourselves.”
