Tretayug to Kalyuga

It is believed that in Tretayuga, Lord Shiva himself appeared at this place by penetrating Hades. This temple remained unchanged even in Dwapar and Kali Yuga, maintaining its antiquity and divinity. The temple is located in Rehti village in Jaunpur district, adjacent to the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway, and is famous as ‘Trilochan Mahadev’.

Shivling’s appearance caused by cow’s milk

There is an interesting mystery associated with this temple, which tells the story of its appearance. It is said that a shepherd used to take his cows in the forest every day. When he returned home in the evening, his cow did not give milk. For several days, the shepherd got upset due to this series, where does his cow’s milk go.

One day he chased his cow. The cow stopped at a special place in the forest and shed all its milk on the ground. The shepherd was surprised to see this. The next day too, the cow went to the same place and shed milk. Seeing this miracle, the shepherd told the villagers. The villagers aroused curiosity and they started digging at that place.

During the excavation, he saw a Shivling under the ground. The villagers thought of digging the Shivling out and installing it in the village. He dug for several days, but the end of Shivling did not get the end. Finally, the villagers started worshiping that self-proclaimed Shivling. Eyes, nose, mouth and ears are clearly visible in this amazing Shivling. A temple was built there with the help of villagers.

Mahadev resolved two villages dispute

After the appearance of Shivling, a dispute arose between two villages of Rehti and Lahangpur in Jalalpur area of Jaunpur district. Actually, this Shivling appeared exactly at the place where the boundaries of both villages were found. Due to this, the villagers of both the villages started fighting the ownership of the temple, claiming to be their respective villages.

In view of the increasing dispute, a panchayat was convened in the presence of nearby villagers. It was decided in the panchayat that this dispute should be left to Mahadev itself, if they are really self -proclaimed, they will definitely resolve this dispute. After the worship of everyone, the doors of the temple were closed at night. People of both villages gave their locks at the main gate of the temple.

Miraculously bent Mahadev

The next morning, when the doors of the temple opened, all were surprised. The manager of the temple Muralidhar Giri ji says that the Shivling, which the people of Rehti and Lahangpur villages were fighting among themselves, the Shivling was found bent towards the north direction, ie Rehti village. Seeing this miracle, the people of both villages apologized and started paying their reverence for Lord Shiva. Everyone admitted that this Shivling is in Rehti village, and thus the dispute of Trilochan Mahadev Temple ended.

Ancientness described in the Skanda Purana

The Trilochan Mahadev Temple of Jaunpur is very ancient and mythological. It is described on page number 674 of Skanda Purana, which proves its historicity and importance. This temple is considered one of the ancient temples of Kashi. Sonu Giri ji, the head priest of the temple, says that Lord Shiva has appeared here by penetrating the real Hades, and it is a awakened temple. By coming here with reverence, Mahadev fulfills all the wishes of the devotees. It is believed that by taking a bath in the pool here, devotees get rid of skin diseases.

Devotees come from India and abroad

Devotees from all over the country and abroad come in this mythological abode of Lord Shiva and pay their reverence at the feet of Mahadev. Apart from Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek and other religious rituals in Sawan, many people also consider Mahadev as a witness and also tie in marital bonds.
