Janjati Bhagidari Utsav 2025: CM Yogi said that Aba Birsa Munda awakened the flame of independence by giving the slogan of Apna Desh-Apna Raj. CM inaugurated the Tribal Participation Festival at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan and talked about connecting the tribal society with development schemes.
Lucknow, 13 November: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Dharti Aba Birsa Munda was a true supporter of India’s independence. He launched a movement against the British, due to which the British government arrested him. At the age of only 25, he breathed his last in Ranchi jail. CM said that Birsa Munda gave the slogan of ‘Apna Desh-Apna Raj’ to the tribal society. He believed that when the country is ours then the governance should also be ours and not of any foreigner. With his inspiration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the tradition of celebrating 15 November as Tribal Pride Day.
Tribal Participation Festival inaugurated at Indira Gandhi Foundation
Chief Minister Yogi inaugurated the ‘Janjati Bhagidari Utsav’ with the beats of drums at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. He visited the handicrafts and art exhibition organized here and garlanded the statue of Birsa Munda. On this occasion, artists from Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and other states including Uttar Pradesh gave their folk performances. The Chief Minister said that the specialty of this year is that Tribal Pride Fortnight is being celebrated across the country from 1st to 15th November, due to which the tribal community is being connected to the mainstream of the society and the nation.
Artists from 22 states became participants of the festival
CM Yogi said that artists from 22 states participated in this cultural gathering. Arunachal Pradesh is the partner state in this. Artists from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Goa, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Jharkhand and Punjab also participated. Handicrafts, tribal cuisine, literary platform and development exhibition were also the center of attraction in the festival.
Increase in education and participation of tribal community
The Chief Minister said that even though the tribal population in Uttar Pradesh is less, now their level of education and government participation has increased rapidly. Whereas earlier the seats of Scheduled Tribes used to remain vacant, in the recent police recruitment of 60,244 seats, all the seats were filled with the youth of the same community.
Tribes including Tharu, Musahar, Kol linked with schemes
CM said that the government has decided that all the tribes of the state, Tharu, Musahar, Chero, Buxa, Sahariya, Kol, Gaur etc. should be given the benefit of every government scheme. With this aim, the government is working in mission mode, through which facilities like drinking water, electricity, pension, ration card and Ayushman Bharat Scheme are being provided to these tribes.
Got support from PM Tribal Justice Mahabhiyan and Janman Yojana
CM Yogi said that Tribal Justice Campaign has been started under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Janman Yojana. Under this, 815 families of Buxa tribe in Bijnor district have benefited, out of which 145 Prime Minister houses, electricity-water to every house, mobile medical unit, Anganwadi center, mobile tower and Van Dhan Kendra have been approved.
Development reached 517 tribal villages
CM Yogi said that 517 tribal dominated villages of the state have been linked to all the schemes under ‘Dharti Aaba Tribe Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’. These include districts like Sonbhadra, Ballia, Lalitpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Deoria, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Mirzapur etc. Now facilities like Aadhar Card, Ayushman Card, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Ration Card, Kisan Credit Card, Jan Dhan Account, Jeevan Jyoti Insurance Scheme are available in these villages.
Emphasis on education, scholarship and ashram system schools
The Chief Minister said that till now 1.50 lakh tribal students have got the benefit of scholarship and fee reimbursement scheme. There are 9 ashram system schools running in the state, where 2026 students are studying. Apart from this, 8 hostels are under construction, while Eklavya Model Residential Schools are running in Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich and Sonbhadra. A new school is under construction in Lalitpur. Girl students who do not study in residential schools are being given benefits under the cycle and uniform scheme.

Land rights letters received under Forest Rights Act
CM Yogi said that Forest Rights Act has been implemented in 13 districts of the state. So far, 23,430 tribal families have been given land ownership rights. He said that the double engine government is restoring the pride and heritage of the tribes as well as ensuring their safety and dignity.

Many ministers and representatives participated in the program
On this occasion, many public representatives including Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh, Social Welfare Minister Aseem Arun, Scheduled Caste-Tribe Commission Chairman Baijnath Rawat, Vice Chairman Bechan Ram, and Legislative Council member Subhash Yaduvansh were present.
