The guest list at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift‘s wedding could hint at the Kansas City Chiefs’ TE’s venture post-retirement. Kelce came close to calling time on his career on a couple of occasions over the last eighteen months before deciding to return to the Chiefs for the 2026 NFL season.
Drew Lerner of Awful Announcing noted an interesting tidbit in the guest list for Kelce and Grammy winner’s marriage, which took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 3rd. Lerner reported a heavy presence of FOX, Amazon, CBS, and ESPN at the wedding—none from NBC.
Pro Football Talk host Mike Florio believes the names on the list might indicate Kelce’s next address after retiring from football. Kelce has close ties to Amazon through his podcast New Heights, and his brother, Jason Kelce, works as a game-day analyst for ESPN.
Florio revealed that a little while back, Kelce, 36, was heavily favoured to replace Kirk Herbstreit‘s seat in the Thursday Night Football booth. With Herbstreit’s deal running through 2026, it won’t surprise anyone if Amazon gives the spot to the three-time Super Bowl champion.
In conclusion, Florio explained that Kelce can get a job in any media.
Frankly, Travis [Kelce] would get whichever gig he wants, at any network with an available spot. The only question is the price. And the over-under for the combined gigs would be, in our view, $40 million per year, easily.
After suffering a defeat in the 2024-25 Super Bowl against the Eagles, Kelce’s career almost ended. However, Swift, his wife, encouraged the All-Pro athlete to continue playing.
In the following year, the Chiefs finished the regular season with a 6-11 record and missed the playoffs. Once again, the media . He shocked everyone by agreeing to play his 14th season with the Chiefs.
Kelce signed a three-year, $54.7 million contract extension, but in reality, it’s a one-year deal. Later, general manager Brett Veach disclosed that the Chiefs knew Kelce even before the 2025 season ended.
When you’re going through the season that we had, certainly like mid-November, early December, there was probably some question in my mind. I will say those questions were alleviated almost immediately. We played in Vegas [in the] last game of the season. We came back here that Monday; we had player exit interviews and Travis popped into the office. We talked about a lot of stuff on the coaching staff, on the roster staff, but he basically said, ‘I’m not going out like this. I’m gonna take a few weeks off here, but let’s get in touch and let’s plan on me being here.

In a March episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Kelce spoke about the motivation behind his return.
Making another run at it & the Chiefs are making moves. We’ve got Brett Veach & Andy Reid going & getting the Super Bowl MVP. You kidding me?! It was pretty short & brief, and the Chiefs knew where I was the entire time on it.

Several former and current Chiefs players were present at Kelce’s wedding. One of them was Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez.
Gonzalez represented both the Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons. He appeared in 270 games, caught 1325 passes for 15,127 yards, and scored 111 touchdowns, most by any tight end in league history.
Kelce is second on that list with 1080 catches for 13002 and 82 touchdowns. Despite his greatness, Kelce has to record at least 2200 yards next season to surpass Gonzalez.
Regardless, Kelce will go down as one of the greatest tight ends ever to play in the NFL. He’s also George Kittle’s favourite player.
