Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has addressed the swirling speculation linking Mohamed Salah to a high-profile move to the Turkish Süper Lig.
The Egyptian forward, now 34 and freshly released by Liverpool, remains a free agent with intense rumours suggesting he could join one of Turkey’s powerhouse clubs, with Trabzonspor poised as a surprising front-runner to secure his signature.
Despite widespread chatter about Salah’s potential transfer, including reported interest from Besiktas and even clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer, Dogan tempered expectations in a recent interview with A Spor. “There is a lot being said, but there is no agreement with Mohamed Salah,” Dogan affirmed, explicitly denying any imminent deal or confirmed plans for Salah to travel to Trabzon. “Had there been such a plan, we would have informed the media and the fans of it,” he added, maintaining transparency while firmly shutting down rumours of an immediate transfer.
However, Dogan did not mask the allure Salah presents to any club. “Who among us would not want to sign a player of the calibre of Mohamed Salah? Of course, we would wish for that,” he admitted, acknowledging the exceptional talent and market value the Egyptian brings. Still, he insisted, “the truth is that there is no agreement at this moment,” signaling that while Salah remains a coveted target, negotiations have yet to produce a definitive outcome. “I do not want to speak about this matter,” Dogan concluded, leaving the door open but withholding further comment.
Salah’s departure from Liverpool marks the end of an era after almost a decade with the Reds. His remarkable tenure featured more than 440 appearances and 257 goals, along with eight major trophies, cementing his status as a club legend. His next destination, possibly in Turkey, promises a fresh chapter as he aims to continue competing at a high level in the twilight of his career.
With intense speculation but no concrete confirmation, the prospect of Salah joining Trabzonspor or another Turkish giant remains one of the most tantalizing transfer stories of the summer, keeping football fans and pundits alike on edge.
