Yash’s much-discussed film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups may soon make its way to streaming platforms after a comparatively modest run at the box office. The film, which arrived in theatres after the massive success of KGF 2, has continued to remain a subject of interest among viewers waiting to watch it digitally. According to a report by 123Telugu, the film could begin streaming on ZEE5 on September 25, 2026. There is, however, no official confirmation of the date from the filmmakers or the streaming platform yet.
Toxic may arrive on ZEE5 later this month
The reported September 25 streaming date would place Toxic on OTT roughly a month after its theatrical release. While such a window can vary depending on a film’s theatrical performance and digital agreement, the reported date has not been formally announced by the makers.
For viewers who skipped the theatrical release or were waiting for its digital premiere, the reported OTT arrival could provide an opportunity to watch the film from home. Until an official statement is issued, though, the September 25 date should be treated as a reported release schedule rather than a confirmed one.
Film’s theatrical earnings remain below expectations
Toxic was mounted on a reported budget of around Rs 500 crore to Rs 600 crore, making it one of the more expensive productions associated with Yash. According to Sacnilk figures cited in the report, the film has collected approximately Rs 249.02 crore in India, while its worldwide gross is reported at around Rs 340.98 crore.
Those figures have fueled discussion about the film’s commercial performance, particularly in relation to its large production scale. Despite the attention surrounding Yash and the expectations created by his previous blockbuster KGF 2, Toxic did not achieve the level of theatrical response many observers had anticipated.
Digital rights deal reportedly saw negotiations change
The film’s OTT agreement has also been the subject of reports for some time. A Bollywood Hungama report previously indicated that the producers were seeking more than Rs 200 crore for the digital rights. At the same time, an offer of around Rs 150 crore from a major streaming service was reportedly discussed.
Reports have suggested that the film’s performance in theatres affected negotiations over the value of its digital rights. However, the exact terms of any final OTT agreement have not been publicly confirmed. As a result, figures circulating about the deal should be viewed as reported claims rather than officially disclosed financial details.
Will viewers see a different version on OTT?
Another point of curiosity concerns the version of Toxic that could be released digitally. Some reports have claimed that the filmmakers may prepare an edited or modified cut specifically for OTT viewers.
There has been no official confirmation about such changes so far. If the reports prove accurate, audiences could potentially see a version that differs in some respects from the theatrical cut. For now, details about any alterations remain unconfirmed, leaving viewers to wait for an announcement from the production team or ZEE5.
What is Toxic about?
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is set in post-Independence Goa and features Yash in the role of a gangster. The film combines an action-driven narrative with a period setting and has a large ensemble cast.
Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth are among the principal actors associated with the project. The music has been composed by Ravi Basrur, who previously collaborated with Yash on the KGF franchise.
For now, the reported September 25 OTT date remains unconfirmed. An official announcement will determine when and in what form Toxic becomes available for streaming audiences.
