Top 5 Honda Cars We Want In India Before Next Christmas

Honda is one of the most trusted automobile brands in India, admired for its reliability, smooth performance, and affordability. However, in recent times, the company has been struggling to achieve strong sales, especially with its car division.

We believe these five models could completely turn things around for Honda in India. We wish Honda to bring these cars by Christmas 2026.

Honda Cars We Want in India Before Christmas 2026

1. Honda Elevate Hybrid

The Elevate, Honda’s only SUV in India, should be updated with a new hybrid powertrain to make it more competitive. Honda, being one of the global leaders in hybrid technology, should bring this tech to the Elevate. The company already sells the City Hybrid in India, and since both models share the same platform, introducing a hybrid powertrain in the Elevate is a necessity.

A hybrid engine would make the Elevate a far more value-for-money product against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The strong hybrid engine used in the City e: HEV produces 126 PS and delivers excellent fuel efficiency of around 27.13 km/l (ARAI claimed).

Currently, the Honda Elevate is offered with a single powertrain option that features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-VTEC petrol engine producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Prices for the Elevate start at 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Honda City Turbo

Though Honda has introduced a sportier version of the City, a proper turbo-petrol engine would make it even more powerful and the first choice for enthusiasts. The company already sells the City Turbo in international markets, but in India, it is currently offered only with NA petrol and hybrid powertrains.

The Honda City Turbo is sold in markets such as Thailand, powered by a 1.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine producing 122 PS and 173 Nm of torque. These performance figures make it more exciting to drive, and enthusiasts in India have been eagerly awaiting this engine option.

The India-spec City currently features the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine used in the Elevate, with similar power output levels and transmission options. Prices for the Honda City start at 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

3. Honda Civic Type R

Moving to the performance segment, Honda sells the iconic Civic Type R in global markets. This performance sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo petrol engine that produces around 320 PS and 420 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

It also features multiple driving modes, sporty red-themed interiors, bucket seats, Honda Sensing technology, a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.2-inch TFT driver display, and a gloss-black rear spoiler.

Honda should consider bringing it as a limited-edition model. It would be positioned as a rival to the Skoda Octavia RS. If launched in India, the Civic Type R could demand a premium price of around ₹50 lakh.

4. Honda WR-V

Most cars sold in India are SUVs, especially the subcompact SUVs, which are currently the most popular among buyers. Previously, Honda had the WR-V competing in this segment, but it was discontinued due to poor sales. Honda should consider relaunching this model in India.

The international version of the new WR-V uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the Honda City globally, which could be a real game-changer for the brand. Some Reports claimed that Honda has been testing updated versions in India, but the brand hasn’t confirmed anything yet. If launched, it may feature the smaller 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine from the Honda Amaze to keep prices competitive. Pricing under 10 lakh would make it a strong value-for-money contender in the segment.

5. Honda electric cars

Honda has already announced that it will bring new electric cars to India by 2027. We hope they unveil the India-specific models before next Christmas 2026. The most anticipated electric car would be the Honda e Alpha electric SUV. Honda plans to locally produce these cars and even export them to global markets.

All Honda models mentioned above are globally successful and highly appreciated, and introducing them in India could completely transform Honda’s market positioning. With the growing demand for hybrids, EVs, and performance cars, it’s the right time for Honda to step up and bring these much-loved machines to Indian roads before Christmas 2026.
