India’s mid-size SUV segment clocked 28,960 units in July 2025. That marks a 7.7 per cent growth compared to July 2024 and an 11.1 per cent improvement over June 2025.
Mahindra once again led the charge in the mid-size SUV segment with the Scorpio N. The Scorpio registered 13,747 units last month. That’s 1,510 units higher than July 2024, which equals a 12.34 per cent YoY growth. On a month-on-month basis, Scorpio sales rose by 1,007 units compared to June 2025, resulting in a 7.9 per cent MoM improvement.
Claiming second place was another Mahindra, the XUV700. Mahindra sold 7,054 units of the XUV700 in July 2025. Sales of the XUV700 dropped by 9.2 per cent compared to July 2024 when 7,769 units were sold. However, compared to June this year, sales improved 13.81 percent, with 856 additional units dispatched.
Mahindra swept the podium with the XEV 9e electric coupe SUV, accounting for 2,462 units in July..Month-over-Month sales of the Mahindra XEV 9e declined by 12.32 per cent compared to the 2,808 units sold in June.
The Tata Harrier (ICE & EV) accounted for 2,216 units sold in July 2025. Harrier sales jumped by 11.3 per cent YoY compared to the 1,991 units sold last July. In MoM terms, the Harrier surged 76.01 per cent compared to June 2025, when just 1,259 units were sold.
Hyundai’s Alcazar 7-seater SUV rounded off the top 5, contributed 1,419 units in July. Sales of the Alcazar rose sharply by 142.56 per cent YoY rise over the 585 units sold a year earlier. Month-on-month, Alcazar volumes grew 20.87 per cent as sales improved by 245 units compared to June’s 1,174 units.
The Tata Safari came in sixth with 1,242 units sold in July 2025. Compared to the 2,109 units sold in July 2024, the Safari suffered a 41.11 per cent YoY decline. However, on the MoM front, the Safari’s sales rose by 34.71 per cent, rising by 320 units from 922 units in June 2025.
The MG Hector lineup (Hector and Hector Plus) accounted for 579 units sold in July 2025. Volumes of the MG Hector fell by 67.47 per cent YoY compared to the 1,780 units sold in July last year. Month-on-month numbers also dipped, dropping by 23.51 per cent compared to the 757 units sold in June this year.
Jeep Compass sales stood at 129 units in July 2025. That’s a 39.44 per cent fall YoY versus the 213 units sold over the same period last year. In MoM terms, sales of the Compass remained unchanged, with July volumes matching the 129-unit figure from June 2025.
The Hyundai Tucson accounted for 84 units, marking a 34.88 per cent YoY decline compared to 129 units last July. Looking at month-on-month numbers, sales of the Tucson grew 15.07 per cent, with an increase of 11 units over the 73 units sold in June.
Volkswagen’s Tiguan contributed 28 units in July 2025, down 63.64 per cent from the 77 units sold in in July 2024. Compared to June 2025, however, sales grew significantly by 460 per cent, climbing from just 5 units to 28 units.
