Tom Latham Hits Backs At The Critics Of Team India After Steamrolling Rohit Sharma And Co. 3-0

World Test Championship 2025 Final: The recently concluded IND vs NZ Test series turned out to be a horrific one for Rohit Sharma and his men.

Before the start of New Zealand’s red-ball tour to India, Rohit and his men needed only three wins from their remaining eight games. Now after a horrific 3-0 series loss against New Zealand, India now need to win four out of their remaining five games against Australia, in Australia.

After India defeated Bangladesh 2-0, they were well in contention to play the World Test Championship final in Lord’s next year, but after being defeated by New Zealand, India’s hopes of playing the WTC Final has taken a massive hit. Questions are being asked about the Indian team and their capability to function as an unit. New Zealand outplayed India in every condition, this is something that rarely happens in international cricket.

New Zealand Captain Tom Latham Backs Team India

Team India’s downfall started when they opted to bat first in Bengaluru in the first Test. India batting first on the first day of the Test match with the conditions favouring the bowlers was something that surprised everybody. New Zealand had experienced the similar fate as India when they toured Sri Lanka. The Lankans had clean swept the Kiwis 2-0.

With all the shots being fired at Team India, New Zealand skipper Tom Latham has come to India’s rescue and he believes that Rohit and his men still have a lot of quality and can turn things in no time.

Indian cricket in general is really special. We’ve played against them a lot. The guys play with them at the IPL . They were certainly gracious in defeat and they’re still a quality side. hey certainly don’t become a bad team overnight and I’m sure they’ll turn things around in time‘, said Tom Latham.

World Test Championship Final, A Distant Dream For Team India

The loss to New Zealand has dented India’s hopes of playing the WTC Finals. India have been dethroned from the top spot of the WTC Points table. Their next Test assignment will be against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India need to win four Test matches against Australia and this is no easy task. To make matters worse, as soon as India lose a Test match, they are probably out of the WTC Final race.
