The 71-year-old coach expressed a desire to continue competing for a national championship.
When asked about his plans for the next five years, Izzo stated his focus remains on winning. Despite the changing landscape of college basketball, he indicated that retirement is not on his agenda, emphasizing his dedication to the team and its future prospects.

Tom Izzo has led Michigan State to eight Final Fours and secured the Big Ten’s last national championship in men’s basketball in 2000. Although he has not reached the Final Four since 2019, which marks the longest gap of his career, he remains optimistic about the team’s future.
Following the recent loss, Izzo highlighted the potential of returning players Jeremy Fears and Coen Carr, both of whom still have eligibility. He expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to rebound from this setback.
