According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance has been active since January, which is likely to affect the western Himalayan regions from January 31 to February 2. On February 1, there may be snowfall along with thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is an alert of rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim and Rajasthan. According to IMD, light to moderate rain is expected over the plains of northwest India including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from January 31 to February 2. At some places, there may be thunder, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 30-40 km/hour.
