Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s hunt for a new Dayaben is nearing its end, according to News18. The character, originally played by Disha Vakani, has been absent since 2017 when she left to focus on her family.
Asit Modi, the show’s producer, has finally spoken out about the search. Modi acknowledged the iconic status of Dayaben, stating that the audience hasn’t forgotten her despite her five-year absence. He expressed his admiration for Disha Vakani’s talent and revealed that he’s been waiting for her return, even praying for a miracle to bring her back to the show. However, with no confirmation on Vakani’s return, the search for a new Dayaben continues, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the character’s comeback.
In a conversation with SCREEN, Asit Modi said, “People have been eagerly waiting for Daya Bhabhi, and I will finalise her soon. People say that without Dayaben, they don’t enjoy the show as much, and I agree. We, as a team, are trying to fill Daya Bhabhi’s absence as much as we can. But she will return soon.”
“We can only pray that Disha Vakani returns as the character. She is like my sister, and she has some family duties to fulfill, which is why it might be difficult for her to return. We miss her even today. She was very sincere and caring towards her co-stars and the team. We hope to find someone just like that,” he further explained.
In a recent development, rumours had been circulating that television actress Kajal Pisal would be taking on the iconic role of Dayaben in the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The speculation gained traction when pictures of Kajal dressed as Dayaben began circulating on social media, leaving fans wondering if she was indeed the chosen one to play the beloved character. However, putting an end to the speculation, Kajal Pisal has now come forward to clarify that the news is entirely false. She revealed that the viral photos are actually old and have been misinterpreted, emphasizing that there is no truth to the rumors.
She told Zoom, “I am already working on Jhanak, so this is entirely incorrect. Yes, I did audition for Daya Ben in 2022, and those pictures are resurfacing now. But as of now, I can confirm that this is totally fake news.”
