‘Time to come out of shadow’: Posters in Patna urge CM Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant to take over leadership role

Patna: With Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar all set to step down in the coming days, after his entering the Rajya Sabha, speculations are going on in the state of his likely successor. Several workers of his party, Janata Dal (United), put up posters across Patna, urging his son Nishant to step up political activities and take rver the leadership role.

A new entrant in politics, Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar, recently joined the party. It is being speculated across the political circle that he may be sworn is as the next Deputy Chief Minister of the state. However, nothing is confirmed yet.

Posters put up in Patna for Nishant Kumar

The posters were put up by supporters, who identified themselves as “Nitish sevaks”. One of the posters in Hindi read, “We do not need a bulldozer, nor riots-unrest in Bihar. We need loknayak. It is time for him to come out of the shadow. We need youth leader Nishant Kumar.”

The posters feature images of several other party leaders, with messages calling him the next leader of Bihar. Lines also said that Bihar did not want “bulldozer” politics or unrest; instead, the leadership was rooted in the ideals of a “loknayak”.

The development signals internal sentiment among certain JD(U) workers who appear keen to see continuity in leadership through Nitish Kumar’s family, even as the party navigates a changing political landscape.

Samrat Chaudhary visits Nitish Kumar’s residence

Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary visited Nitish Kumar’s residence in Patna. Even as there is no official announcement on who would be the next chief ministers speculations suggest that the new person at the helm is likely from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Earlier on April 10, Nitish Kumar took oath as a Rajya Sabha member. His resignation as Chief Minister would mean the end of his two years at the helm in the state.
