New Delhi: India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a thrilling contest at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28. This was the Men in Blue’s second consecutive and overall ninth Asia Cup title. Tilak Varma was the hero with the bat for India as he scored an unbeaten 69 runs off 53 deliveries.
After beating Pakistan, Indian fans heaped praise on Tilak Varma and the Men in Blue side. Some fans quoted him as ‘Starboy,’ ‘next hero of the Indian team,’ and ‘National hero’.
Tilak came to the crease when India were 10-2, and from there onwards, the left-hander made a crucial 57-run partnership with Sanju Samson and a match-winning 60-run partnership with Shivam Dube to take his side over the line.
India needed 10 runs from the last over, Tilak ran two runs on the first ball and hit a maximum on the second ball to close out the game comfortably. Tilak’s innings against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final will be one of the best performances under pressure in his career.
