New Delhi: A routine morning turned into a tragedy in Delhi’s Dwarka on Thursday morning when three boys drowned in a pond in Golf Course while reportedly bathing. According to police, a PCR call was received regarding the incident at the Sector 23 police station shortly after 7 am today. Following this, a team of police led by Station House Officer (SHO) rushed to the scene.
Despite the police and fire brigade rushing to the scene, the victims could not be saved. All three children, aged between 8 and 10 years old, were pulled from the water, but were reportedly declared dead at the scene.
How the incident unfolded?
During a preliminary investigations by the Dwarka DCP, it was discovered that the children’s clothes were found edge of the pond. The led the authorities to believe that the victims entered the water voluntarily for swimming.
It is believed the kids did not fathom the depth or the conditions of the pond resulting in their drowning. So far, no missing complaint was filed at local police station. It is not yet know how the children gained access to the waterbody which is said to be restricted.
Victims yet to be identified
The Dwarka police have sealed off the area and are scanning the site to look for any foul play into the incident. While the initial evidence points toward an accidental drowning, officials are working to identify the victims and notify their families.
The incident has raised concerns regarding security and restricted access to water bodies within public and private spaces in the city. Police said that the investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the drowning.
