Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme has become a boon for poor, Dalit, backward and minority daughters. More than 4 lakh marriages have been conducted since 2017. Due to increase in grant, applications have doubled and more than 1.20 lakh applications have been received in 2025-26.
As soon as Sahalag begins, the splendor of mass marriage ceremonies has increased in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. At the center of these events is the Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme, which has made marriage not a burden but a respectable opportunity for the daughters of economically weaker families. This scheme, started on the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is today being considered no less than a boon for the daughters of Dalit, backward and minority classes.
More than 4 lakh marriages since 2017
The Chief Minister Group Marriage Scheme, launched in the year 2017, has brought about a big social change in the last eight years. So far, during the tenure of Yogi government, marriages of more than 4 lakh poor girls have been done with full customs and respect. A target of 57 thousand marriages was set in the current financial year 2025-26, but till now more than 1.20 lakh applications have been received. Out of these, marriage of more than 14 thousand poor daughters has already been solemnized, while this number is likely to increase further in the coming days.

Grant increased, applications doubled
Yogi government has made it more effective by increasing the grant amount received under the scheme. At present, a total assistance of Rs 1 lakh is given to each couple, which includes wedding material, cash in the bride’s account and arrangements for the event. This is the reason why twice as many applications are being received as compared to the target and the popularity of the scheme is continuously increasing.
Deprived classes got the most benefits
The Dalit class has got the maximum benefit from the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. According to the data, till now marriage of daughters of more than 2.20 lakh Dalit families has been done under this scheme. At the same time, more than 1.30 lakh daughters of backward class and more than 40 thousand daughters of minority class have also got the benefit of this scheme. About 16 thousand poor families of general category have also joined this scheme.
Plan showing mirror to opposition’s politics
This scheme has also emerged as a mirror for those parties, which did politics in the name of backward, Dalit and minority classes for years, but could not bring concrete changes in their lives. Through this scheme, the government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that empowerment of the society does not happen only through slogans, but through concrete work at the ground level.
Strong message of social harmony
The biggest feature of the scheme is that there is no wall of caste and religion in it. The wedding ceremony respects the religious traditions of the Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities. This initiative not only provides financial assistance but also gives the message of social harmony and brotherhood.
Commitment of thousands of crores, resolution of empowerment
Yogi government has so far spent more than Rs 2,200 crore on this scheme. A budget of Rs 550 crore has been set for this in the financial year 2025-26. Deputy Director in charge of the scheme, R.P. According to Singh, this is not just a marriage assistance scheme, but a strong step towards respect for women, collective cooperation and social security.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath says that the priority of the government is to connect the deprived sections with the mainstream. Mukhyamantri Samaj Vivah Yojana is the result of this thinking, which has fulfilled the dream of marriage of daughters of lakhs of poor families and given them a strong start towards a respectable life.
