Amidst the increasing expenses and responsibilities, he decided that now he would have to do something big to increase the family income. After joining the self-help group ‘Jai Hanuman SHG’, he got information through Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (R-SETI) and the project team that detergent powder production could be a good option. For which the Yogi Adityanath government of the state is providing full help. They laid out their plan during community meetings and workshops. After evaluation the project team provided them a loan of Rs 80,000 through the “Rang De MFI” scheme. Adding Rs 20,000 from her own side, Rekha bought machines, bought raw materials and started the “Priyal” brand with packaging. Within a year, Rekha Devi’s income increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 per month.

Providing employment to every member of the family

According to the villagers, Rekha Devi not only improved the financial condition of her house but also involved every member of the family in this work. Today she takes payments both online and offline, handles financial transactions herself and also earns additional income from tailoring.

Rekha started teaching all three children in good schools.

Light of self-reliance in every home

Rekha’s enthusiasm about the future has increased further. She says that if the support from Yogi government continues like this, then in future I will start making toilet cleaners and other products along with detergent. Rekha wants more women to join me and change their lives. Rekha Devi’s statement indicates that the women empowerment schemes of the Yogi government are not just on paper but are creating new possibilities in the villages.
