India won the third T-20 match by 7 wickets. Arshdeep Singh’s bowling did wonders in India’s victory and he was successful in taking two wickets for 13 runs in 4 overs.
In this match played in Dharamshala, the performance of Indian bowlers was seen, Arshdeep, Harshit, Varun and Kuldeep took two wickets each due to which South African team was out after scoring 117 runs. After which India achieved the target in 15.5 overs after losing three wickets. Arshdeep was awarded the title of Player of the Match for his excellent bowling. In this victory of India, the strategy of coach Gautam Gambhir also came to the fore which led India to victory.
Actually, coach Gambhir played a master stroke and included Harshit Rana in the eleven in place of Bumrah. India got the benefit of this, Harshit took two wickets in the match. Harshit Rana took two wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs in the match. Apart from this, when the 19th over of the South African innings ended, coach Gambhir sitting in the dugout showed cleverness.
Coach Gambhir’s strategy and the work was done
What happened was that the responsibility of completing the last over was with Hardik Pandya. Surya wanted to end the African innings with Hardik’s over but immediately after sensing the situation, coach Gambhir gave a message to the fielding coach T. Dilip sitting next to him. With which T. Dilip went to Sanju Samson, then Samson went to the field just before the start of the last over and delivered Gambhir’s message to Surya.
Actually, Gambhir had sent a message that instead of giving the last over to Hardik, he should bowl the last over to Kuldeep Yadav, because there are two new batsmen at the crease, it would be difficult for them to guess the mystery of Kuldeep. Thinking this, Gambhir had sent this message to Surya.
After this Surya bowled the last over to Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep again proved Gambhir’s decision right and stopped the African innings at 117 runs by taking the last two wickets in the same over. South African lower order batsmen could not understand Kuldeep’s spin and were out. Only two runs were scored in the last over.
In fact, if Hardik had bowled, perhaps the last batsman would have been able to score some runs because by then the pitch had stopped helping the fast bowlers and also Hardik is not that effective in the later overs. This was the reason why Gambhir asked to give the responsibility of the last over to Kuldeep. Let us tell you that now the Indian team is ahead of South Africa by 2-1 in the series.
