While today’s generation might not recognize her, people in their 40s knew who she was, and her performances always wooed the audience. If you are wondering who we are discussing, then this person is none other than the late legendary actress Nirmalamma.

Who was Nirmalamma

Born on 18 July, 1920, in Machilipatnam, Madras Presidency, British India, Nirmalamma was well known for her grandmother roles in several films. She won two Nandi Awards. Her debut came in 1943 when she featured in Garuda Garvabhangam.

Over the course of her career, Nirmalamma worked with many A-list stars including NTR, ANR, Krishna, S. V. Ranga Rao, Rajendra Prasad, P. B. Srinivas, Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, and many more.

In this way, she established herself as an indispensable actress of the Telugu film industry by working in more than 1000 films.

Nirmalamma Never Became a Mother

Despite tying the knot, Nirmalamma did not have any kids, and just to fulfill her wish of having a child, she adopted one. She adopted a baby girl and named her Kavitha.

When Kavitha got married, she had a son whose name is Vijay Madala. He acted in the movie Sandhyaragam. Vijayashanti was the lead actress, and the movie was a commercial success. However, Vijay Madala was raised in America, so his Telugu pronunciation was not perfect. Because of this, he did not do any more Telugu movies.
