However, the benefit of this scheme will be available only to those consumers who have no arrears in advance. The arrears will have to pay the arrears first, only then they will be able to take advantage of this scheme.
If smart prepaid consumers have consumed electricity up to 125 units in July, then there is no deduction in energy charge, fix charge and electric duty items. At the same time, the bill of 125 units is being released in the July bill of postpaid consumers.
According to Arvind Kumar, GM (Revenue) of South Bihar Power Distribution Company, if the earlier bill is outstanding in the account of a consumer, it will be mandatory to pay it. Smart prepaid consumers will not get the benefit of recharge without depositing the arrears and power supply can also be stopped. Postpaid consumers are also required to pay arrears, otherwise connections may be deducted.
The power company has made it clear that the consumers who have not yet paid the arrears will be charged with interest. There are more than 10 thousand consumers in Patna city, whose flats are closed and they have not paid the fix charge. Such consumers will have to pay the pending fixed charge first, only then 125 units will be given the benefit of free electricity.
