There will be no shortage of LPG, government gave extra cooking gas to 8 states

In view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the government held an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments. There was a detailed discussion in the meeting regarding energy supply, trade and security of Indian citizens. The government made it clear that the situation is being continuously monitored and steps are being taken as per the need.

Strong supply of PNG and LPG

To maintain energy supply, the government has given additional LPG allocation to 8 states and union territories, while applications from three states are still under consideration. In the last five days, gas has been supplied to more than 55,000 PNG connections. Since March 23, more than 4.3 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders have been sold, which has helped in meeting the domestic needs.

Custom duty exemption on petrochemicals

The government has decided to give complete customs duty exemption on important petrochemical products. This will provide relief to sectors like plastics, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and auto components. All these industries are dependent on petrochemical feedstock, hence reducing the cost will reduce the pressure on them.

Emphasis on increasing exports

The government has taken several steps to maintain business continuity. This includes inter-ministerial coordination, facilities to exporters, logistics support and special relief packages. The objective of these measures is that despite the global crisis, Indian exports are not affected.

Return of crew members stranded on the ship

So far, more than 975 Indian sailors have been safely brought back from the conflict-affected area, including 11 sailors in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of External Affairs is continuously monitoring the situation and is giving priority to the safety of the Indian community.

Improvement in air travel, keep an eye on the situation

About 6.24 lakh passengers have arrived in India since February 28 and the situation of air travel is gradually improving. The government says that amidst the changing situation, every necessary step is being taken to ensure the security of the country’s energy, business and citizens.
