US President Donald Trump has clearly refused to do a trade negotiation with India. He said that as long as there will be controversy over the tariff, the trade deal with India will be postponed. He told reporters at the Oval Office on Thursday that, the trade deal will not be talked about until we solve the issue of tariffs.

Donald Trump increased the 25 percent tariff already imposed on India for buying Russian oil to 50 percent and now he has also said a big thing about doing a trade deal with India. Regarding the decision of President Trump to increase the tariff on India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that we cannot compromise with the interests of the farmers of the country. PM Modi said in a statement that the interest of his farmers is the highest priority for us. India will never compromise with the interests of its farmers, cattle rearers and fishermen siblings.

Trump has increased tariff

Earlier on Wednesday, the White House issued an executive order to impose 25 percent additional tariff on Indian goods, which increased the total tariff to 50 percent. The Trump administration cited national security and foreign policy concerns and especially on behalf of India, pointing to the continuous import of Russian oil and said to increase the tariff. The order claimed that these imports, whether direct or through middlemen, present an unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States. Apart from this, President Trump has said that India not buying Russian oil. However, the Ministry of External Affairs refused to stop the oil import citing its investment interests.
