Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal became the target of an AI deepfake video in which he was shown in an objectionable manner. This video, which went viral before the IPL match, was removed by X after huge protests.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has become the new target of an AI-made deepfake video. This incident happened just before the match against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. This match is to be played on Saturday, April 3 at Chepauk Stadium (MA Chidambaram Stadium), Chennai. Chahal was the victim of a fake video in which he was falsely shown in a compromising position with two women. AI technology has now become so advanced that it has become easy to tamper with videos on the internet and social media platforms. This type of false content can spread rapidly, causing serious damage to anyone’s image.
In recent times, AI-generated deepfake videos have targeted many well-known celebrities. This has increased concerns about misinformation, cyberbullying and tarnishing someone’s image. At the same time, the need for strict laws is also being felt to prevent its misuse and save the reputation of the people.
Fake video of Chahal made by AI
When Yuzvendra Chahal was preparing for the IPL 2026 match in Chennai, he started trending online. One of his deepfake videos quickly went viral, although it was later confirmed to be fake. In this viral video, Chahal was shown with two women, with one of whom he was seen in an objectionable position. But later it became clear that it was a fake clip created by AI. To add to the deception, the stadium shown in the video was also completely fabricated.
Yuzvendra Chahal married Dhanashree Verma in December 2020. The couple officially divorced four years later in March 2025. After this, there were reports of Chahal being linked with radio jockey and social media personality RJ Mahvash. The two were often seen together, but no one officially confirmed their relationship. However, recently both of them unfollowed each other on social media, which has again increased the speculations about their current relationship.
X removed Chahal’s fake AI video
People got angry on social media over this fake AI video of Yuzvendra Chahal. Many people demanded action against the user for spreading wrong content and tarnishing the image. After the huge uproar over the AI video of the Punjab Kings spinner, X took immediate action. The platform removed the clip following massive public protest.
“Due to local regulations, this content is restricted on X,” the platform said.

Yuzvendra Chahal is not a part of India’s white-ball team since playing a T20I match against West Indies in 2023. Chahal was a part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2024, but he did not get a chance to play a single match.
The veteran spinner was the joint second most successful bowler for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, taking 16 wickets in 14 matches. During this period, his average was 26.87 and economy rate was 9.55, which also included the feat of taking four wickets twice. The franchise had retained Chahal for Rs 18 crore, after which he is playing for PBKS for the second consecutive season.
