Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for accusing the Election Commission of theft in Bihar. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has claimed that the Election Commission is involved in vote theft in Bihar and he has a strong evidence about this, which is like an atom bomb.
The commission will not get a place to hide anywhere. Addressing the program organized by the Media Institute in Patna, Singh compared the upcoming assembly elections to a crossroads, in which one way leads to progress and the other takes Bihar back to the old stages of chaos and caste struggle.
Taking a sarcasm, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said, ‘Rahul Gandhi says that he has an atom bomb. If this is the case then they should break it immediately. They should simply make sure that he himself stays away from danger. ‘ Singh said that the country remembers Rahul Gandhi’s previous statements. The Defense Minister said, “He (Rahul) had threatened to have an earthquake in Parliament, but when he spoke, it proved to be a useless thing.”
‘Low level rhetoric about constitutional institution’
The Union Minister said that the Election Commission of India is an institution that is distinguished for undisputed honesty. Singh said, ‘Every effort is being made to conduct the upcoming assembly elections in the state independently and fairly. The Leader of the Opposition does not suit the low -level rhetoric about a constitutional institution. Rajnath reminded the Congress leader that his own party’s hands were dyed with blood, who tried to kill democracy in 1975 by imposing emergency.
‘Help in bringing the state back on track’
The senior BJP leader also praised the coalition partner Nitish Kumar for helping the state back on track during 20 years of rule in Bihar. Singh said, ‘Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar is no longer in bad shape. The internationally reputed magazine like The Economist, which once described this state as a hanger of India, is now referring to its change. Rajnath claimed that the state’s progress has been further boosted since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power 11 years ago. He said, “The NDA government has so far given assistance of Rs 9 lakh crore to Bihar, while the previous Congress -led United Progressive Alliance government had given only Rs 2 lakh crore in a decade.”
‘Construction of developed India’
Rajnath Singh said, “PM Modi has also made it clear that he sees the important role of Bihar and all eastern states in the creation of developed India.” The BJP leader also recalled the disappointing situation prevailing in the state when the kidnapping for ransom became a cottage industry and the businessmen were forced to flee the state. The Union Minister claimed, “The per capita income of the state, which was 80 percent of the national average at the time of independence, had come down to less than 30 percent by the NDA in 2005.” Singh said that the upcoming elections are very important. The state finds itself standing at a time, where one way leads to a golden future, the other leads to the disappointing past, which he left behind after suffering a lot.
