A 19-year-old boy has been accused of killing a 17-year-old intermediate student because she refused to have a relationship with him. How did the whole thing start?
According to the police, the accused youth A. Venkatesh knew the girl for a long time. On Friday, when the girl was alone at home, the accused entered her house. He first tried to talk, but the girl clearly refused him. Enraged by this, he allegedly slit the girl’s throat and killed her. This incident happened so suddenly that the family did not even get a chance to recover. After the girl’s death, anger and tension spread in the entire area.
Heavy protest and police action in the area
After the murder, local people and the victim’s family protested strongly. People demanded immediate punishment of the accused. Seeing the situation worsening, the police shifted the accused out of Kazipet so that he could be saved from the crowd. But the tension did not subside and the police feared that the mob might attack. For this reason, the accused were kept in different police stations and security was increased.
Attempt to escape from custody and encounter
On Saturday morning, the police was taking the accused from one police station to another. Meanwhile, the accused allegedly tried to escape from police custody. The police team tried to stop him near Basapuram checkpost, but the accused allegedly attacked the police with an iron rod. Two constables were injured in this attack. After this the situation worsened and the police had to take strict action.
Why did the police open fire?
According to police officials, the accused was warned several times to surrender. The police even fired a warning shot in the air. But when the accused did not stop and continued moving towards the police, the situation went out of control. After this the police fired two bullets under the feet of the accused to stop him. The accused got injured in this firing and was immediately admitted to the hospital.
Hospital treatment and further investigation
The injured accused and the two injured policemen were first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to RIMS Hospital in Cuddapah. Everyone is undergoing treatment there. Police say that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and a case of murder and assault has been registered against the accused. Officials have also said that providing justice to the victim’s family is their priority.
