The moon of Ramzan has been sighted in the country. On sighting of the moon in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali has announced that Ramadan will start from Thursday morning. The moon of Ramadan was seen in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Generally, there is a difference of one day in the beginning of Ramadan in India and Gulf countries. Now after the sighting of the moon today, the first Roza will be observed across the country on 19th February.
What is Roza?
Roza is an important prayer in Islam. In this, Muslims do Sehri before sunrise. Then stay away from food and drink till sunset. The fast is broken with iftar at sunset. Roza is not just about staying hungry and thirsty but it is also considered a process of keeping the mind, speech and behavior pure.
Roza and Sehri rules
Before starting the fast, Sehri is eaten before sunrise. This is considered preparation for fasting. After Sahri, water or food is not consumed till sunset. There is a tradition of breaking the fast with dates and water after sunset. After this namaz is offered.
Five times prayers and taraweeh
In Ramadan, offering Namaz and Taraweeh Namaz at night have special significance. It is advised to avoid lying, getting angry, gossiping and misbehaving during fasting. Roza is considered beneficial not only from religious point of view but also mentally and physically.
