Kolhapuri Chappal and Indian Spices
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday termed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keer Starmer to accelerate India’s journey to become the world’s third largest economy. At the same time, it was called a milestone for India’s local to global and self -sufficient India.
Trade deal of Kolhapuri slippers beneficial
Goyal said that this agreement has been reached after two decades due to PM Modi’s personal popularity and acceptance worldwide. The Union Minister said that FTA will also be beneficial for GI products like labor-dominated areas and Kolhapuri chappals, which were recently at the center of controversy. Goyal said that this game-changing free trade agreement has brought unlimited opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sectors, labor sectors, youth, fishermen. It is the largest, most important and comprehensive of all the free trade agreements so far.
Economy will have positive effects due to trade deal
He said that in about 30 chapters, it addresses important topics on which India could not walk shoulder to shoulder with those people on the first international stage. These have been signed by India with firm and on their terms, with confidence. I believe that it will have important positive effects on the country’s economy later and its benefits will be seen later.
He said that on the one hand, the free trade agreement has been signed with a developed country which is the sixth largest economy in the world, while on the other hand, economic priorities and “defensive interests” have been balanced in terms of commerce.
