Interim Decision on Wakf Amendment Act: The Supreme Court has refused to completely stop the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. However, the court has currently laid a temporary stay on the provision of the condition of being a follower of the religion of Islam for five years.
Interim Decision on Wakf Amendment Act: The Supreme Court has given a big verdict on the Waqf Amendment Act 2025. The court clearly stated that there is no need to ban the entire law, so it cannot be fully stayed. The court has currently imposed an interim stay on some provisions. Now the Collector will not have the right to take a decision on disputes related to Waqf property. This restriction will remain in force until the final decision on the petitions challenging the validity of the amendment. This decision was made by Chief Justice Justice B.R. The bench of Gawai and Justice Augustin George Christ recited. The Supreme Court reserved the verdict on 22 May after completing the hearing on it. Today the court said that there is no need to stop the entire law, but temporary security is necessary on some sections.

The Supreme Court said that the Waqf Board should not have more than 3 non-Muslim members and cannot have more than 4 non-Muslim members in total. There was a provision in the law that a person making Waqf should be a follower of Islam for at least 5 years. The Supreme Court has temporarily stopped this provision. The court said that until a clear rules are made to decide whether a person is a follower of Islam or not, this rule will not apply. The Supreme Court made it clear that there is no basis for banning the entire Act. The court says that considering the law as unconstitutional is in very rare cases. Therefore, only those streams have been banned, which are controversial.
