In the first half of 2025, amidst global trade tension, geo-politics problems and economic concerns, the stock market was having a continuous hiccup. On the other hand, some companies raised Rs 45,350 crore through IPOs. This is 45% more than last year’s January-June period, when 36 companies raised Rs 31,281 crore. But this time the number of IPOs decreased, only 24 companies launched IPO, which was 36 in 2024. This means that the average size of the IPO has increased.
Experts say that due to strong domestic investment flows, positive investor sentiments and growth prospects, the IPO market may be cautious but strong in the second half of 2025. According to data from merchant bankers, 24 companies raised Rs 45,351 crore in January-June 2025, while last year 36 companies earned Rs 31,281 crore.
Open more IPO than last time
Neha Aggarwal, managing director of JM Financial, said that Global Trade Tension, Jio-Political Ancertanti and Macro-Economic Challenges influenced the market sentiment. Nevertheless, companies raised more than Rs 45,000 crore through IPO. Boosting this Momentum further, in the first half of 2025, 118 companies near SEBI filed initial documents for IPO, which is much more than 52 companies of 2024.
These companies earned
Out of 24 Main Board IPOs in January-June 2025, 67% came with premium on listing. The overall IPO performance was solid, which gave an average 25% return to the investors. During this period, HDB Financial Services has raised Rs 12,500 crore in the big IPO, Rs 8,750 crore by Hexavier Technologies, Rs 3,500 crore by Shloss Bangalore and Rs 2,981 crore has been raised by Schloss Bangalore. Most of the IPO also had a promoters’ offer for sale (offs) with fresh share issue.
Most of the companies used IPO for business expansion, date repair and working capital needs. Especially companies associated with manufacturing and infrastructure were ahead this time. Only four IPOs were launched in July 2025 and at least five more IPO pipelines. CEO Ratiraj Tibrewal, CEO of Choice Capital Advisors, said that in the second half of 2025, the IPO market will be optimistic with vigilance. Due to strong domestic fund flow and investor confidence, companies are ready to enter the market.
