Varanasi vivad: Varanasi, the parliamentary seat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is burning with a conflict between the lawyer and the police these days. An incident that took place on Saturday night warmed the atmosphere of the entire city. Local lawyer Shiv Pratap Singh was returning from the bike after visiting Laxmi Kund temple with his wife at around eight o’clock on Saturday night.

The Rath Yatra was a jam situation due to water filled at the intersection. Meanwhile, he had a dispute with Crime Inspector Gopal Kanhaiya. Shiv Pratap alleges that the inspector refused to give way and threatened to seize his bike. As the debate increased, the inspector beat him up badly with a weapon, causing serious injury to the face and his hand. He was admitted to the BHU Trauma Center in a bloody condition.

Giriraj Singh’s son -in -law brutal beating

In the investigation, it was found that Shiv Pratap Singh is the son -in -law of Union Minister Giriraj Singh. He was married to Sharda Singh, daughter of Giriraj’s siblings Jairaj Singh in 2013. At that time Giriraj Singh was a minister in the Bihar government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also attended the wedding ceremony.

Lawyers outrage and ruckus in the court

As soon as the court opened on Monday, a joint meeting of Banaras and Central Bar Association was held. The lawyers boycotted the judicial work, expressing their fury over the attitude of the police. On Tuesday, angry lawyers attacked policemen in the court premises. Mithilesh Prajapati, a sub-inspector of Baragaon police station, and a soldier came to take a remand paper, when the lawyers ran and beat him. Mithilesh was seriously injured.

Police action and strike

A case was filed against 10 nominated lawyers and 50-60 unknown people at Cantt police station, but no one was arrested even after three days. Angered by this delay, sub-inspector Mithilesh Prajapati’s wife Anita Yadav and family sat on a dharna outside the Police Commissioner’s office. They allege that action is not being taken despite the nominated trial.

Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal assured that strict steps would be taken soon and appealed to the Bar Association for cooperation.

Political silence

It is interesting that Union Minister Giriraj Singh has not given any public statement on this incident with his son -in -law. While this marriage himself took place under his supervision and it was involved in the Chief Minister of Bihar. In Varanasi, the tension between the lawyer-police has been at its peak since the incident. Normal functioning in the courts is stalled and security has been increased.

Local people are asking what will happen to the safety of common people when such an incident can happen to the son -in -law of a Union Minister.
