This time, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a budget of 583.5 billion dollars i.e. 53.5 lakh crore rupees. What is the country’s annual budget?
If we talk about the annual budget of the country, it is Rs 53.5 lakh crore i.e. 583.5 billion dollars. Whereas last year the country’s annual revised budget was less than Rs 50 lakh. Talking about the figures, this is the first time that the country’s annual budget has gone above Rs 50 lakh crore. Whereas the budget for financial year 2025 was Rs 48.21 lakh crore. Before that, the budget for financial year 2023 was seen to be Rs 45 lakh crore. The budget for financial year 2022 was seen at Rs 39.45 lakh crore. This means that there has been a tremendous increase in the country’s budget every year.
13 budget and 3 times increase
This was the 13th full budget of the tenure of the Modi government. From then till now, there has been an increase of about 3 times in the budget expenditure. Modi’s first full budget was revealed in July 2014. Then the country’s budget was seen at Rs 17.95 lakh crore. The budget for financial year 2027 has been estimated at Rs 53.50 lakh crore. This means that there has been a 3 times increase in the budget. If we try to see it in percentage, an increase of 200 percent has been seen. Further increase may be seen in the coming years.
Some special figures regarding budget expenditure
- Non-debt receipts and total expenditure are estimated at Rs 36.5 lakh crore and Rs 53.5 lakh crore respectively. The Centre’s net tax receipts are estimated at Rs 28.7 lakh crore.
- Gross market borrowings are estimated at Rs 17.2 lakh crore and net market borrowings from dated securities are estimated at Rs 11.7 lakh crore.
- The revised estimate of non-debt receipts is Rs 34 lakh crore, out of which the Centre’s net tax receipts are Rs 26.7 lakh crore.
- The revised estimate of total expenditure is Rs 49.6 lakh crore, of which Capex is approximately Rs 11 lakh crore.
- Fiscal deficit is estimated at 4.3 percent of GDP in the financial year 2026-27, which was 4.4 percent earlier.
- The debt-to-GDP ratio in the Economic Forecast (BE) for 2026-27 is projected at 55.6 per cent of GDP, while it was 56.1 per cent in the Economic Forecast (RE) for 2025-26.
Budget more than GDP of 165 countries of the world
The special thing is that the budget for the financial year 2027 is more than the GDP of 165 countries of the world. After the 26th largest economy of the world, the GDP of any country is not as much as the annual budget of India. The special thing is that the total GDP of Singapore, the 27th largest economy in the world, is 574.185 billion dollars. Whereas the country’s budget is more than 583 billion dollars. Whereas the GDP of UAE, the 28th largest economy in the world, is 569.097 billion dollars.
