Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police S. According to Arvind, Anthony Robin (26), a resident of Mammandal Road, worked in a gas company in Chinnatirupathi area of Salem. He usually came to his home at the end of the week. On Saturday night he returned home after drinking alcohol and slept. Early in the morning he suddenly ran out of the house screaming. His body was on fire. Neighbors somehow extinguished the fire and immediately rushed him to the government hospital at Kallakurichi. Doctors said that he was burnt to the extent of 90 percent. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Salem hospital, where he died after treatment for two days.

Wife first told suicide
After the incident, Anthony’s wife Ammu told the police and neighbors that her husband had set himself on fire under the influence of alcohol. Initially it seemed to be a case of suicide. But the police became suspicious and started investigating the CCTV cameras installed nearby. It is from here that a big revelation came in the matter.
Secret revealed through CCTV footage
CCTV footage obtained by the police showed that when Anthony came out of the house, he was trying to wipe his body and his clothes were not on fire at that time. After a few seconds, Ammu comes out from behind and sets his clothes on fire with a matchstick. After this she retreats. Within moments the fire erupts and Anthony starts running here and there screaming.
Illicit relationship became the reason for murder
During the investigation, the police interrogated neighbors and people who knew the family. It was then revealed that Ammu had a long-standing affair with her sister’s husband. Anthony Robin was opposed to this relationship and had many times asked his wife to stay away from it. There were often fights between the two regarding this matter. Police believe that due to this dispute, Ammu conspired to remove her husband from the way.
Police is investigating further
Superintendent of Police S. Arvind said that a case has been registered against the accused woman. He is being interrogated on the basis of digital evidence.
