The light of hope lit after 78 years! This village was illuminated for the first time in independent India. Barabanki Garhariyanpurwa Village Electricity After 78 Years

Today a village came out of darkness, light of hope lit after 78 years

Almost eight decades have passed since the country became independent, but today Gadharianpurwa village of Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh came face to face with the real light of independence. When electricity reached this village, situated just eight kilometers away from the district headquarters, for the first time, it seemed as if the entire village was immersed in celebration. When the bulbs were lit in the houses which had become accustomed to darkness, the sparkle in the eyes of the children and the relief on the faces of the elderly was clearly visible.

Rohit Pal, a resident of the village, says that this day is like a fulfillment of dream for him. He told that due to lack of electricity, people’s thinking about the village changed. There used to be marriage proposals, but after seeing the darkness they used to return. He says that today for the first time we feel that we too have been able to participate in independent India in the true sense.
