Bihar Thermal Power Project: Adani Power received a 25 -year power supply contract from Bihar State Electricity Generation Company. A 2,400 MW Ultra Super Kritical Plant will be set up at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur.
Adani bihar power project: India’s largest private sector thermal power producing company, Adani Power Limited said on Friday that it has received a letter of award (LOA) for a long time after 25 years from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL). This electricity will supply 2,400 MW (800 MW x 3) from Greenfield Ultra Super Critical Plant to be established in Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. BSPGCL has provided LOA to APL on behalf of both state power distribution companies, both North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NYPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL). After this, the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) will be signed between the two institutions.
India’s power demand is expected to increase rapidly in the coming year, and due to sharp industrialization, urbanization and increasing population, the maximum demand will increase from around 250 gW to about 400 ggawatts by 2031-32 and 700+ gigawatts by 2047. On a large scale, with its inherent capacity to provide reliable and 24-hour power, thermal power will remain the backbone of our power security and provide significant base-load and grid balance assistance. To meet this constantly increasing power demand, the government has envisaged adding about 100 gigawatts of additional thermal power capacity by 2035.
