Dr. Sui Wenyuan is an attending doctor at the Spine Center of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Last December, a 10-month-old boy was admitted to the pediatrics department of Mojiang County People’s Hospital after suffering fever and seizures, he said. After this the mother’s cruelty came to the fore to the world. The report said that about 600 needle prick marks were found all over his body. The child had needle marks all over his body, including his soles, behind his ears and his head. During examination, a broken needle was found stuck in the child’s neck, after which the child had to undergo immediate spinal surgery. The doctor said that the child’s health is improving after the surgery.

The report said that when the child was brought to the hospital, he had a high fever, which may have been caused by rust on the needle. The child’s temperature came down three-four days after surgery. After this the child was shifted from the intensive care unit to the ward. After the matter came to light, social media users demanded that the child’s mother be given the harshest punishment and she be kept at a safe place away from the mother. The report also said that the investigation team found that whenever the child was restless, his mother would take him for traditional folk ‘needling’ treatment.
